Dos colores. Una plaza
Competition
Roquetas de Mar, Spain, 2014
Our project aims to turn the Mercado de Abastos Building
into an indispensable piece within the network of social institutions of
Roquetas de Mar, reaffirming its connection both with the zone of expansion to
the northeast and with the site in which it is located. With our project we
propose a reinterpretation of the original design, which is summarized in three
points:
1. Re-covery and Re-adaptation of the original project.
2. Maximization of permeability and interior-exterior
visibility.
3. Relationship between commercial and leisure programs.
To improve the visibility of the market, we propose the
construction of two volumes near the facade, that would contain the restaurant
and cafe. These volumes, cladded with metallic sheets of bright colors, call
the users’ attention and increase the visibility of the Market from the street,
besides providing a different experience to the Market’s clients.
